The organised COPINE quarterly workshop entitled Light for LITE, was held on the 17th of July 2007.

The major participants in the workshop were Computer Aid International (CAI), a charity body registered in England and Wales; and the Women and Children Development Initiatives Foundation (WOCDIF), a non-Governmental Organization borne out of the desire of the Initiator/Chairperson, Princess Omolola Oyinlola, to assist vulnerable members of the society.

Light for LITE ( Landmarks in Information Technology Education ) 2007” took place on the 17th of July 2007 at the Conference Hall, Obafemi Awolowo University Conference Center, Ile – Ife, Osun State.

The workshop commenced at 9.00am with the registration of participants while the main programme kicked- off at 10.00am with a welcome address by the Chief Host, the Vice – Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile – Ife, Prof. M.O Faborode.  

Her Excellency, the wife of the Executive Governor of Osun State and Founder of Women and Children Development Initiatives Foundation (WOCDIF), Princess Omolola Oyinlola delivered the opening address.


The second session commenced immediately after the departure of Her Excellency, the wife of the Executive governor of Osun State and founder of Women and Children Development Initiatives Foundation (WOCDIF), Princess Omolola Oyinlola .

This session was chaired by Dr. (Mrs.) Kehinde Taiwo, the OAU Branch Chairperson of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ile – Ife. The first speaker was Engineer Titi Omo-Ettu the Chief Executive of CyberSchuul, Lagos and the topic of his presentation was “IT Penetration for Human Capacity Building”.

 The next paper was presented together by Ms. Anne Musyoki and Ms. Gladys Muhunyo ; the West Africa Programme Officer and Africa Programme M anager respectively, both representatives of the Computer Aid International, UK. Their topic was “ICT for Bridging Rural – Urban Gap”.

The third and final speaker was Dr. T. K. Yesufu, the National Coordinator of COPINE and he spoke on “An E – Waste Management Strategy for Rich and Poor Economies to Meet Together”.


After all these presentations, questions were raised and each presenter provided answer relating to their presentation. 

The Workshop came to an end at 2.30pm with two hundred participants in attendance
